Book Review - Saint Anything

by Sarah Dessen (Penguin) ISBN: 9780141361734

Sydney’s family is falling apart after her brother goes to jail following his latest ‘accident’. She moves schools and feels like a complete outcast at first, as if nothing has changed. She is constantly ignored in her own home, following the disarray surrounding her brother’s troubles.

The Chatham family, who are full of colour and chaos, then welcome her as one of their own. Sydney attracts Mac Chatham, who is quiet and mysterious and has an incredible heart. Can Sydney lead a normal life? Or do her brother’s mistakes from the past catch up with her eventually?

This was a fun and light read, but it got slow and repetitive near the middle, which made it slightly more difficult to focus. I liked the characters and the way the story unfolded. I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for an enjoyable and an easy story, but it was not something that I could remember after a while.
